Mid Term Review For Sustainable Land Management Project

Description:

The Sustainable Land Management in Churia Range, Nepal (GEF/WWF/GoN) Project (SLMNP) is a Pilot project aimed at reducing land degradation problem in Churia. It covers Churia area of Rautahat, Bara, Parsa and Makwanpur. The project objective is to substantially reduce degradation and maintain or improve conditions of agro-pastoral lands and Churia Sal and mixed forest areas in strategic project locations…” Specific aims are: a) substantially reduce degradation in 2,500 ha of agro-pastoral lands and 5,000 ha of forests by 2017 through integrated land and watershed management work in strategic locations.

This consultancy was offered to Dr. Madhav Karki on individual basis by the WWF, USA which is a GEF implementation agency. However, Dr. Karki requested WWF, USA to award the consultancy to CGED-Nepal although he performed the entire work with administrative and field work support from the CGED-Nepal fellow Mr. Sanjeev Poudel. CGED-Nepal completed the Mid-term Review in March-April and submitted the final report which has been accepted and approved by the WWF/GEF, Washington DC.  The total value of the contract is 10,890 USD and most of the payment as per the contract has been made except for the vehicle hire.
